Role overview
A part-time role for someone embedded in the world our audience lives in.
Evolving Medic is a performance and productivity brand built for medical trainees and ambitious healthcare professionals. It was created by JR Smith, M.D., an orthopedic surgery resident at Mayo Clinic, to help people perform at a higher level during one of the most demanding training paths in the world.
This role helps run and grow the content, community, sponsorship, and operational systems behind Evolving Medic. It is remote, part-time at roughly 10 hours per week, and built for a current U.S.-based medical or pre-medical student who knows this space because they live in it.
The right person is not just looking for tasks. They want ownership. They want to learn how a growing creator-led medical education company operates from the inside. They are also interested in using AI and modern tools to become more efficient, more creative, and more valuable as the company grows.
What you will own
Three areas of real ownership.
This is not a passive assistant role. The goal is to find someone who can take responsibility, make useful suggestions, and help the company get better over time.
Brand and sponsor operations
Identify aligned brands, organize outreach, track conversations, prepare partnership notes, and help make sponsor relationships smoother.
Systems and execution
Improve workflows across Kajabi, forms, emails, community resources, AI tools, Notion, Google Workspace, and other systems as the company grows.

The right person understands the audience, writes clearly, follows through, and is actively learning how better systems and AI tools can improve the way they work.
Non-negotiables
You can own responsibility without needing constant direction.
- Currently enrolled in a U.S. medical school or active in the U.S. pre-medical pipeline.
- Strong understanding of medical trainees, medical education, and the culture of this audience.
- Excellent written communication across emails, briefs, notes, and application responses.
- Highly organized with strong follow-through and the ability to close loops.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, async-first environment.
- Practical curiosity about AI, with real examples of using it to improve learning, writing, organization, productivity, or output.
- Comfortable learning digital tools quickly, including Google Workspace, Notion, YouTube Studio, website builders, form builders, AI tools, and no-code workflows.
Strongly preferred
You think like a builder, not just a task-completer.
- Experience experimenting with website builders, AI tools, no-code tools, forms, automations, content platforms, or other digital systems. Kajabi experience is helpful, but not required.
- Experience with content creation, social media, newsletters, or brand communications.
- Understanding of USMLE, clinical rotations, ERAS, the Match, or the medical application process.
- Ability to spot what content is actually useful, not just what might perform well.
- Interest in healthcare, education, productivity, performance, and creator-led businesses.
- Willingness to bring ideas, challenge assumptions, and improve systems over time.
- Excitement about using AI to become more efficient, more creative, and more valuable as Evolving Medic grows.
Compensation
Paid to grow what you help build.
This role is designed to start small, move fast, and reward someone who can create leverage. The base retainer gives stability. The brand deal upside gives you a reason to think like an owner.
